~ Prologue ~
We mortals live in a universe filled with material that begs to be named. Words are the tools that we use to communicate images, information, ideas, expressions. But words carry weight beyond the merest vocalization, they allow humans the power to sense essence. There is an essence, a core that is central to all matter both the living and the non-living. The tale that I am about to tell you has lived for thousands of years as its own essence and is known to many. I am but the writer of this tale that had demanded a more practical form. Some of this may not seem relevant at first and this prologue may seem more than it should be. If at any time you wish to read ahead, do so. It is the story that is important, and these first pages I write more for my own clarification of what has been told through me. You may choose to read only the tale of the Velderain and how they brought humans The Knowing and this alone may be enough to release the essence of this tale to you.
~ Words ~
Every person has one or more words that link them to their essence. Sometimes the same word or words apply's to many people. Still, that same word will sound a different note when hammered out against one core or another - there are no two grains of sand alike on all of the beaches in the world. The power of the word or words that unlocks the knowing of essence is exemplified when an individual hears a particular word or words that resonates deeply. There are sights that can cause this but only momentarily because words not sights are associated with reveling the well of deeper essence. One can see a tree, touch it's bark, smell it's dripping pitch, but the word tree evokes an understanding of what we are touching and awakens a deeper link to the essence of that thing and that is because we are still mortals with mere belief and not yet knowing. Therefore the true essence of every person can be summed and brought to the surface by the wor!d that encapsulates who and what they are. It is not the sum total of their being but it is the cup that holds the contents of their life. One is given this word to become complete with
~ The Knowing ~
Once the knowing takes place there is often no longer a need for words. Once you know a tree you no longer need the word. The Knowing There are many steps to learning before one can have The Knowing. Knowing is not a belief it is an absolute. Beliefs are based on feelings that something could be true. Beliefs are often supported by convincing arguments and are waged with wars of words. The Knowing needs no words or wars or understanding, it is an absolute, it is The Knowing. The learning is often precipitated by a word, or maybe as many as several, that may spur one into the concreteness of knowing - an awakening. Once the word or words are heard or received The Knowing occurs if one has been opened to being filled by the essence of the word. When this happens The Knowing is absolute and can never be altered. One may have a knowing about many things but the greatest knowing is that of one's relationship to the creator. There are those who have this knowing and it is the one and only universally organic truth that once gained by a mortals offers !immortality. Children have The Knowing, it is born with them, but it is almost always destroyed by rheumatic adulthood unless great care is taken. Sometimes it is gained again by those who have regained childhood in their elder years. Throughout history man has come close to The Knowing but did not have an understanding of words, essence and The Knowing until he nearly lost
~ The Soul of the World ~
The Soul of the World The Soul of the World is the power of all that is natural on earth, and it is, in common with the rest of the universe, a part of the whole. Each entity within the universe has a specific energy. This is what relates all matter in the universe to all other matter. This includes the energy of all things living and non-living. Man calls his particular energy a soul and this fleck has a precise relationship to all souls of all humans but the massive gravity of the Soul of the World and The Soul of the Universe also pull strongly on all living things. A family tree is a good analogy to imagine when trying to understand this concept of universal relationship. The basic element is that everything of matter is related to everything else and therefore is related to the creator, this is The All.
~ The Velderain ~
The Velderain are the guardians of the Soul of the World. Eons ago, as man spread into the vast spaces of the untrod land, the area of the Velderain shrank. They were a peaceful group and did not challenge interlopers with the common tactics of warfare and protectionism but through magic. The Velderain often communicated through children as children are open to a relationship with the Soul of the World because they are capable of The Knowing.
~ The Dark Ones ~
The King of the Dark and the Queen of the Dark are only earthly minions to that force within the All that requires this struggle of balance within its own creation. Though this may seem to be an angry battle between good and evil it is only the battle that must be waged everywhere because good and evil continually seek to master each other. The Dark One's are merely the other edge of the sword, and as individual's it is our decision which edge we will wage our life's struggles with.
